    Mendon, NY    Monroe County

    (20 Minutes outside of Rochester, NY) 


    The Mendon Golf Club is seeking a Head Golf Course Superintendent responsible for the maintenance of our top rated Private 18-hole golf course and associated property.  We have a very nice maintenance facility with up-to-date equipment and computerized irrigation system. The office, shop and employee areas are spacious.


    $ 80,000 - $ 90,000 based on experience and qualifications.


    Health care allowance, vehicle allowance, paid association dues, paid work-related travel expenses, paid licenses, and paid time off.

    Job Description:

    At Mendon you will have a great deal of independence to do your job. You should be a motivated and detail-oriented individual who takes pride in their work.


    ·        Responsible for all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and staffing.

    ·        Regulate and adjust the GPS guidance system for the golf carts as needed.

    ·        Oversee the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs and trees.

    ·        Responsible for all aspects of maintenance to the property, including the golf course equipment, buildings, pro shop and clubhouse.

    ·        Develops and adheres to the annual operating budget. 

    ·        Supervises and controls all maintenance expenses associated with Golf Course Operations, including payroll, supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers.

    ·        Manages water usage and irrigation systems and provides annual reporting on water source usage.

    ·        Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications on the Club's grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

    ·        Works closely with the Head Golf Professional and ownership on any issues related to golf course maintenance.

    ·        Hire, train, direct and supervise the maintenance staff so they perform their duties in an efficient, safe, and exemplary manner.

    ·        Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that the staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state, and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.

    ·        Schedules maintenance practices around member play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption to members.

    ·        Coordinates snow removal and winter maintenance activities when necessary. 

    Minimum Qualifications:

    ·        3-5 year’s experience as a Golf Superintendent or 1st Assistant

    ·        2-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management (or related field, like              agronomy, horticulture, plant science, soil science).

    ·        Computer skills required for financial reporting and control of operations.

    ·        Valid Driver's License.

    ·        Valid New York State Pesticide Application License.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    ·        Knowledge of modern maintenance practices of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.  Prefer working knowledge of the specific grasses at Mendon Golf Club.

    ·        Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.

    ·        Skilled in recruiting, hiring, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.

    ·        Interpersonal skills to resolve challenges with employees and members.

    ·        Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play.

    ·        Ability to anticipate issues with labor, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair schedules.

    ·        Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation systems, drainage lines, construct tees and greens.
