    Equipment Manager

    Club Description:

    Mendon Golf Club is a fully private club located about 15 minutes south of Rochester NY, just south of Pittsford.  The Club opened in 1961 as Green Hills Golf Club. The first nine was designed by Peter Craig and the back nine, which was added in 1967, with design by Joe DeMino. The Club's name was changed to Country Club of Mendon in 1999 and since 2011 has been known as Mendon Golf Club. The Club consists of an 18-hole championship course with full practice facility, large modern clubhouse with full banquet facilities and a restaurant. Mendon Golf Club is a very family-oriented facility with a very healthy membership. We pride ourselves in providing an exceptional private golf course along with a friendly atmosphere.

    Job Description:

    The Equipment Manager reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and oversees a comprehensive preventative maintenance program. This program includes preventative maintenance, the repair of failing equipment, record keeping of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment, placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service, and recommendations on replacing equipment that has reached its useful life expectancy. The equipment manager works in conjunction with our grounds team to manage the day-to-day operations of the department’s inventory of equipment and irrigation system. The equipment inventory contains mostly Toro mowers, haulers, bunker rakes and Club Car utility vehicles. The equipment manager is responsible for maintaining an efficient and effective parts and repair budget, completing required repairs in a timely manner, and maintaining quality height and standard of cut on all mowing equipment. The Equipment Manager is also responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building. The Equipment Manager will be called on to help prepare the golf course for daily play, tournament preparation, and special course projects.

    Duties:

          The Equipment Manager shall take a preventative maintenance approach to servicing all golf course equipment. Any repairs or service shall be approved by the Golf Course Superintendent. An open line of communication between the Equipment Manager and Superintendent is critical to keeping the operation running smooth and within budget guidelines.

          An equipment inventory list/log shall be maintained for accurate record keeping on each piece of equipment. The log should keep hours worked on each piece of equipment, service provided to each piece of equipment, parts purchased for repairs, and yearly cost/piece of equipment to maintain.

          Repair and adjust cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light weight mowing equipment. Each unit shall be checked daily for height and quality of cut. Each unit shall be required to cut daily, a piece of paper with minimal reel to bedknife contact before it leaves the maintenance building. At any point when the quality of cut is compromised the units shall be ground. Sharp cutting units are a high priority.

          Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.

          Tire pressure - are correct pressures in carts, trailers, fairway mowers, etc.

          Hydraulic leaks - check behind mowers for any visible fluid leaks routinely

           A part of the training process of employee equipment uses, which is not limited to demonstrating use of new equipment, proper cleaning of and safe operation of existing equipment.

    Requirements:

          Prior golf course experience is preferred but not required. If no experience, must be familiar with the game of golf.

          Experience involving the routine maintenance and repairs of small engines, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, diagnostics, grinding bed knives & reels is required.

          Must be able to maintain, clean and organize workstations, detailed maintenance and repair records, equipment inventory, tool inventory, and parts inventory.

          Must be able to lift 50+ pounds.

          Must have a thorough understanding of OSHA safety guidelines.
