    Equipment and Shop Manager

    Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club maintenance department

    Founded in 1925, Lake Shore Yacht and Country Club is a private club located in the town of Cicero, on the south shore of Oneida lake.  It consists of a marina, golf course, and beautiful clubhouse that overlooks Oneida lake. We are currently in the planning phase of a complete golf course renovation and real estate development that will take several years to complete.  As such, we are looking to fill the role of Head Equipment and Shop Manager.  This position will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and take some direction from Assistant Superintendent.

    We have recently purchased a fleet of new Toro equipment as well as many other brands to give us the best equipment in Central, NY.

    Requirements and Responsibilities

    As a member of the Golf Course and Property maintenance department, you will help lead the team towards the goal of creating the best possible golf, grounds, and property in Upstate, NY!

    Duties to include fleet maintenance, building repair, and temporarily filling in on golf and ground maintenance related tasks during times of reduced staff, tournaments, etc.  You will spend approximately 70% of your time on equipment and 30% on course/property maintenance.  Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

    • ·         Maintain, lubricate, and repair the entire equipment Fleet as well as all company vehicles.
    • ·         Maintain a safe, clean, efficient repair shop and maintenance facility.
    • ·         Communicate equipment needs and concerns with Superintendent/ Assistant.
    • ·         Oversee staff equipment operation and share in training with Assistant.
    • ·         Supervise maintenance staff while in facility, as needed.
    • ·         Keep all mower blades sharp and adjusted as per the Superintendents’ recommendation.
    • ·         Communicate with manufacturers on equipment warranty issues and service bulletins.
    • ·         Satisfy the need for fabrication of special use equipment and modifications as reviewed and approved by Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
    • ·         Be available to make needed pickups at stores and suppliers and/or drop offs of outside contractor equipment repair, parts pickup, equipment deliveries.
    • ·         Assist in facility maintenance as needed.

    Education, Experience, and Attribute Expectations

    • ·         Eye contact, a smile, and a can-do attitude
    • ·         Mechanic certificate from gas and diesel engine seminar preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience
    • ·         Knowledge of tools, methods and materials used in equipment repair and maintenance practices
    • ·         Valid Driver’s license

    Hours

    Summer Schedule April 15-November 25

    These are the approximate hours for the summer as it changes in the winter when we have less golfer related maintenance.  These hours are fluid, as the needs of the golf course can change with mother nature, tournaments, holidays etc…

    Sunday 530-11 am

    Monday 6am-2pm

    Tuesday 6am-2pm

    Wednesday 6am-2pm

    Thursday 6am-2pm

    Friday/Saturday-off

    Off Season November 25-April 15

    Monday-Friday 6-12
